10 series column change gearbox
Question... How many versions of the column change arrangement were there? There's a version with one lever each side, and one with both levers on the right, but I'm sure I've driven another version from around 1983 with both levers on the right but a different selector arrangement and the levers be...

Re: 6600 contractor spec.
Hi John, It's very possible. The date is about right although I don't recall any extra stickers on it, just the 'DualPower' on each side of the cowling. We had a couple of 10 series demonstrators in at one point - they stayed in the shed until the dealer took them away again (what were they thinking...

6600 contractor spec.
Hi, question for you... Was there ever a 6600 Contractors spec? I ran a 1980 6600 for several years for a local contractor. It was fitted with a puh with the clevis drawbar slotting in over the top, held in place by a 'headless' pin. On the rh side of the gearbox/bell housing area there was a right ...

I think the Koln plant was the home of the Taunus, Granada, and the V6 engine. Not sure what goes on there now though, but still Ford owned.
The lights still look better than the Massey 35 where they were relocated to the top of the bonnet.

Nice. Curious headlight position, gives it a slightly surprised look.

Re: Views on cabins.
I think I've only ever seen two, a County 974 with one in the late 1970s, and an early Schluter wearing the tatty remains at a dealer in Luxembourg around 1998.

Was the Fritzmier the one with the big opening sort of semicircular bay window at the front?

You're welcome. Just a thought, if the shed roof is that low, have you considered a downswept pipe?

Re: Views on cabins.
If you take an 'out of focus' look at that cab, it has the early makings of the bubble cab of the 1980's. White domed grp roof, rearward opening doors, even the lines of the rear window pillars have a familiar sort of Ford feel to them.

Re: FSMD change + gound to - ground
No. Not difficult though. You'll need to 'Flash' the dynamo to repolarise it, and from memory the ammeter will work back to front. The starter will repolarise itself.

Aren't there two versions of the elbow? One brings the silencer under the side of the hood, the other is skewed forward and comes up through the hood for machines with a loader.
Could also invest in some headlights - that'll give you high beam, and low beam

I know what you mean on the elbows. I did many years with no cab and simple vertical roll bars. Never learnt to keep the elbows in!

Re: Views on cabins.
I'd like to see the doors from that cab, an early rearward opening type by the look of it. I guess if the cab is age appropriate then it could be argued that it's part of the tractor's history or individuality but it all depends on your intended use and if it's going to get in the way. I've got a mk...

Re: wiring up an alternator
Sounds like the alternator may be defunct. If you have 2 serviceable batteries, place battery 1 on the tractor and connect in the normal way. Remove all wires from the alternator and tape them up. Place battery 2 on the floor near lhf wheel. Using a jump lead, connect the -ve terminal of batt 2 to t...

Hi John, sorry, penny's just dropped! Nice to hear from you. Yes she's doing well, lifted everything I've asked of her without question and currently running a Palax firewood processor. Unfortunately a medical issue has put a stop to me doing any tractoring at the moment - and in ploughing match sea...

Re: wiring up an alternator
Thanks John, well remembered. Most '000 and 600 series had to be revved a bit to get the light out.
I'm hoping someone will be along shortly to either confirm or correct my wiring description.

Re: wiring up an alternator
Ok, Neg to chassis is already negative earth. Not knowing what alternator you have, there is generally one large connector and one or two smaller terminals. The large terminal would go to the battery positive. the smaller terminal should go to the key live, but it must go via a bulb (the bulb/holder...

Reading Uni had a driverless B250, I think that ended up at Silsoe. I seem to remember the hydro Major had a set back front axle - or a nosecone that stuck out beyond the front wheels.
