I did submit a post some years ago on modernising your Dexta wiring to accommodate Indicators, Brake lights, a Trailer socket and an Alternator if it's any help. Not a difficult job and if your on the road makes you a bit safer in today's driving world.

I very much doubt that Fordson used Cast Iron in their tractors. It's too brittle, doesn't take threading and is liable to crack. When I rewired my Dexta and changed it to -ve earth as I was using an electronic indicator unit and an Alternator. IMHO if you change to -ve earth with a regulator then the only thing you have to do is flash the generator the same way, using a "live" feed from your battery to spark the field winding...

If you are really desperate try running some solder around the olives once you have them firm on the pipe. The soft solder might give you the seal you want. Are the male threads cracked?

You may have put 12v onto the field windings which will give a very high voltage out on the D line. That's what may have blown your fuse. Have you ensured that there is a good earth for the battery? Under a light load you may have a connection, can you crank over the engine? Measure the battery volt...

Have any of you got a Patterson earth scoop? I have been given one but the latch mechanism is missing. Any photo's/Diagrams/Dimensiona would be appreciated to help make a replacement.

My liners etc came from Agriline many years ago and it's still going strong!!
Remember that the engine must be worked hard in the early days otherwise you get glazed bores. Used mine hard on a topper after a rebuild and it is fine 10+ years later.
