I would invest in a Tirfor type of winch. They come with a good length of wire rope and are very versatile and are hand operated. They are often for sale in places like ebay and some of the bigger tractor autojumbles. You can control the winching in and out by changing the handle onto the other post...

There is a lot of side load from the belt tension so you may find it has occured due to these stresses and may result in a catastrophic failure later. Probably best to get it ground out and welded up IMHO. It may also have been caused by a bad fitting when it was put on the crankshaft - look at the ...

On my old Dexta engine the Camshaft timing gear wheel has 'Perkins' cast into it - So where did that come from?

If you got bogged in could some mud/soil have got into the rear brake drum on one side causing it to bind?

The mini type alternator is Ok for a Dexta as it has a built in regulator and make the generator regulator redundant so it can be removed. An Alternator is an Alternating Current generator which has built in rectifying diodes to produce the Direct Current the tractor needs and with a built in regula...

I would also suggest pushing an old feeler gauge strip or a stanley knife blade between the surfaces to try and cut through the gasket sealant. That way you are reducing the contact area when forcing the two pieces apart.

Impact sockets tend to be black, heavy wall thickness and hexagonal rather than 12 sided.
Anybody got a spare pulley for me please?

Just acquired a Dexta belt pulley for my FW$%£^*n Cordwood Saw bench and I searched the forum and found this thread. If the Dexta pulley dosn't line up then why can't you just slacken the saw pulley securing screws (buried under the saw dust and grease probably) and move the pulley along the shaft s...

Once you have flattened the locking tab try using the socket to ensure it is really flat as any small bend will cause problems. The pictures below show what happened when the previous owner of my spare Dexta engine didn't get the slot in the pully correctly aligned with the key on the shaft. http://...

Hi there As an ex E27N owner (TVO and L4) just remember the following: 1. Parts are real heavy - take care lifting + supporting. 2. Theres more oil than you think! Allow plenty of capacity for your container to catch it. It does splash. 3. The top left and bottom right (while sitting on the tractor)...

Hi
I have used a Lucas 17ACR with no problems.
These are easy to obtain from most scrapyards. As it is rather exposed try finding one with minimum rust on the body and give it a lick of paint before fitting.

Camshaft End Plug

Hi Folk I'm looking for the Camshaft end plug (opposite end to the gear wheel) which closes off the camshaft end. It's item 47 on the Cylinder block section 1 illustration. I guess it's a standard item but who could supply one? Agriline don't stock it so any suggestions gratefully received. Regards ...

IMHO Just a small suggestion but have you tried re-positioning the puller legs? Sometimes a slight shift can change the angle of pull and might get a result. Also using two hammers on opposite sides can also shock a tight joint. Also have you tried knocking it on further first? It may sound daft but...

From what I can see from the photos you only have the axle supported on a jack. PLEASE make sure you have adequate support other than the jack such as axle stands as your efforts in repairing the tractor might cause it to move, slip and bang! you are injured. Most dry powder extinguishers use Sodium Bicarbonate. I did a fire NCO course in the Army many years ago and in a day we went through 10 150lb trolley mounted extinguishers practicing fighting liquid fires (contaminated fuel usually). The Instructors never told us (Deliberately!) that the powder use...

I would suggest that wood with a straight cut and even grain isn't a problem BUT twisted, knotty wood makes it difficult. This is my solution, a friend tapped the filler cap and I made up an elbow joint and connector. The top of the elbow has a loose fitting that allows the diff to breath. http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn284/JerryColes/Tractor%20Pictures/DSCF1907.jpg and http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn284/Je...
