Re: E1ADDN engine fitted to Fordson Majors

The Pump is not a Minimec, it is a Simms GM and it is an older model of mecanical governor that don´t normally have the FL head. The oilpan and the front mountingplate has to be changed before it fits into a Major.

I had thought that a 4cyl Fordson starter would struggle to have the torque required to do the job.

Mike
That can happen at cold weather depending on the engine oil in use, but normally it starts very easy even with bad batterys.

Re: 6 cyl sump

As to the oil pump, later 4 cyl engines have the same pump as 6s. Early sumps do differ in the oil pump area. You need a Power Major or later sump. Steve According to my experience the later 4cyl pump has the integrated pressure valve but the gears are narrower than on the 6 cyl pump and therefore ...

The Trader has an electric solenoid as well. There are Trader starters with the solenoid in different positions though. You can use the Fordson orginal starter if you like.

Re: Fordson Major Making Electricity.

This is my backup power "toy". It´s a 590E ofcourse and a surplus military 27kW generator. It powers the whole house when needed. However we don´t have power failures very often here. I have tested a smaller one as well. This is under construction. The plan is to run them on waste vegetable oil. htt...

It could be the head of the industrial engine version of the "Fordson Major"4 cyl engine, the 592E engine, if I remember correct. I think it would fit though. :scratchhead:

I have only Roadless drawings to give You but I think it is only minor differences compared to Selene. The clutch linkage goes under the transferbox and has a special design clutchpedal. http://fordson.se/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3159
