Re: Tecalemit oil filter part number
Hi Sandy, found a short tecalemit filter on a super major, the head looks the same as your ebro one. It is almost identical to the long one apart from the raised bit on the front of the casting. The only number i can see is stamped in the same place as on the long one and is 170261 Cheers John https...

Re: Fuel pump doesn’t seem to fit
Just to clarify, the couplers should be the same length fron the flange to the front of the locating pegs, not overall length. The pump coupler should be 46mm long

Is it a vacuum type pump or one with a mechanical governor?

The couplers should be the same length, have you still got the old pump with the coupler on it?

Re: Fuel pump doesn’t seem to fit
As Sandy says, loosen the bolt on the coupler that is attatched to the engine and gently tap it forward until it's moved far enough to allow the holes to line up on the pump bracket. Fit the pump and if the coupler is too far forward gently tap it back to close up the gap and retighten the clamp bol...

Re: Billy's LH mudguard - Repairing corroded tinwork
Stick at it and you'll get there, welding is one of those jobs where you can be shown how to do it but the only way to get it right is practice and get the 'feel' of it and get used to the welder. Good luck

Re: Billy's LH mudguard - Repairing corroded tinwork
Hi Sandy, trying to keep as much original material as possible may cause you more grief than you need. Stick welding thin steel is hard enough but any trace of rust or paint near your weld will make it almost impossible.i taught myself to weld so i learned the hard way, i wish youtube had been aroun...

Re: New front axle spindle bushes
You won't need a reamer if it's only the end thats out of shape, you should be fine just filing it. Before i had reamers i've used a piece of small diameter pipe in the drill, cut a slot about an inch long down the end and put some emery cloth in the slot and wound it round the pipe and used it to r...

Re: New front axle spindle bushes
Clean the bent edges with a fine ish round file, if they have only distorted at the ends it shouldn't take much, keep filing and checking until it fits

It may be the same head, just a different bowl. I'll have a look through my mates collection of major engine spares, see if he has anything

Re: What lamps are used for the oil pressure and charging lamps?
If the top edge of the bulb holder is slightly rounded in then you need the screw in type bulb, the top edge of the holder acts as a thread for the bulb

Definitely had issues with some of the quality of parts from Agriline. I mainly use Anglo Agriparts or APUK Online now, not much different in price but alot better quality!

Re: Tecalemit oil filter part number
Hi Sandy, one of the old major engines in the field has tecalemit filters on it, the oil filter has 290158 stamped on it, and the fuel filter has 2 numbers, FO2174 and FK9307
Hope this helps

Re: Hydraulic remote valves for trailers - Metal piping to replace the rubber
Hi Will Yes there is a proper metal tipping pipe for the major, they do come up for sale on ebay occasionally. The only new ones i have seen for sale (agriline) are for the super major and they are different. As for using galanised pipe, i have seen it done but personally i wouldn't want to be sitti...

If you take one of the centre caps off a front wheel there is usually plenty of old sticky grease in there, it's worked for me before now

Thats a shame, It opened for me, maybe my ancient tablet confused it! I have no idea how to send it to you, tried copying it to photobucket but it wont work. It basically just describes how it works and says Ford does not intend to put it into production, just use it for field demonstrations

Hi Sandy Found this, don't know if you have already seen it but there is a download link on the page that gives the report on the radio major. Also seems Silsoe Research Facility did an unmanned major using a prototype hydrostatic transmission John https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ur...
