Does anybody know what size 'o' ring needs to be installed on the PTO selector?

Re: Transmission leak
Hi, sounds like either the input shaft seal has failed on the gearbox, or the rear crankshaft oil seal on the engine - both involve splitting the tractor between engine and gearbox. Regarding the thin and high engine oil, transmission oil cannot get into the engine, it is more likely an injection pr...

Re: Dexta Hydraulics
With the drill bit shank, do you literally grind off the old and weld it on? I was just thinking it would be too hard a metal to weld?

Re: Dexta Hydraulics
Thanks for the info there guys, I will have a look at tractormec later on. From what I can see, where the pin on worn through, if you lift the linkage up to where it should be when the new stud is welded in place, the valve is pushed in further in the lift cylinder, as it is at the moment it hardly ...

Re: Dexta Hydraulics
So I have the lift cover off and on the bench, I am currently taking it apart which is proving tricky as some bits are seized in place. I have however noticed that the position control lever is worn nearly all the way through. Are these still available or do I need to weld it up and grind it back to...

Re: Website closing
Brilliant news that the forum can be saved, as has been said, there is decades worth of knowledge that can be found on here which helps novices (like me). I would imagine that looking after a forum like this is not an easy task and takes up alot of time, so fair play to you both - and thank you! :D ...

Re: Dexta Hydraulics
Hi Ben, thanks for your reply. The external services knob in definetly in, but is stuck in (something else I have to look at). The hydraulics are literally doing nothing, no movement at all. I can lift the arms up and down by hand so there is obviously no oil getting to the piston, or the piston sea...

Dexta Hydraulics
Hi, having got the engine on my dexta finished I decided to see if the hydraulics work............they dont!
Is there anything obvious I can check before taking the cover off the back end? (Yes oil is at correct level)

Re: Dexta Oil pressure relief valve
Well, I rigged up a test station today, just by turning the pump over by hand I had 80 psi - not good!
I ended up cutting a spring to make it shorter (guessed how much) and ended up with the pump relief valve tripping at around 50 psi, which I am quite happy with!

Re: Dexta Oil pressure relief valve
Oh yeah forgot to say, I am going to rig up some sort of pressure tester before I put anything back in the tractor, what would anyone suggest I set the relief valve to?

Dexta Oil pressure relief valve
Hi guys, I have finally got round to looking at my dexta's extremely high oil pressure (80psi on crank speed). For those of you who don't know : The engine has been completely re-built (about two years ago) and whilst examining the original oil pump, I found some cracks around the top two fixing hol...

Oil leak from clutch pedal
Hi everyone, my major has been sat for about a year in my workshop. So I got it out last week and got ready to go ploughing, but after a couple days quite a large pool of oil has collected underneath the clutch pedal on the floor. Is there a seal in there, or is the oil in the backend too high? I kn...

Re: Can oil pressure be too high?
Well I bought a brand new pressure gauge thats meant for a fordson major, so I guess that should do the job? I wonder whether I can borrow a proper oil pressure tester from a mechanic or something just to confirm it!

Re: Can oil pressure be too high?
Hi, I checked the oil filter (which is new) at the weekend, and saw nothing that would cause this pressure, although if it were blocked wouldn't the oil pressure be low?????? I just want to check with everyone that it cannot be anything else than the pump relief valve thats faulty before I take it a...

Re: Can oil pressure be too high?
I bought the pump online, agriparts i think, seemed good quality. I will have a look at the oil filter when I get chance. I did put 15w40 oil in it, just to run it in, I suppose I could get some different oil and try that? It didnt go any higher than 80 when I revved it, so im assuming the blow off ...

Re: Can oil pressure be too high?
Hi ben, the oil filter is brand new, as is everything really. I haven't run the engine for long, but oil is getting up to the rockers etc so im assuming its getting to the crank etc. Where would the filter be blocked? It is a brand new gauge, meant for a major but im going to make a bracket so i can...

Can oil pressure be too high?
Hi guys, I haven't had much time to spend on the dexta lately, but I can finally see some light at the end of the very busy tunnel! So I would like to know, why is the oil pressure on my dextas engine 80psi?? Shouldn't it be about 40? I have re-built the whole engine, new oil pump, ground crank and ...

Hi Ian, glad your christmas was good! I spent a fair bit of time in my workshop over the festive period, working on the dexta. So much so, that Ive got it running and driving beautifully, all tinwork etc on it, steering, wheels etc etc done. All ive really got left to do is the handbrake, and repair...

Re: Tacho drive
Hi ben, thanks for the reply. The tacho cable I have is the original one, I haven't bought a new one because I figured if its been on there 50 years it will last a bit longer! I had a look in the back of the pump and it looks as though the end of the cable has snapped off where it goes inside the pu...
