The seal of the pulley is really easy. Best to check the bearings too.

Re: Radiator repair
there was a crack at the tap, which we got repaired by soldering it.
I fitted a new belt at the same time, cause that one really had done it's job way too long..
on last run it was blowing some coolant on the cil head. I guess I need to look at the cap, I think it's a pressured one.

Re: New performance major questions
Hello Ed, Welcome to the board. The bearing at the top is known to fail when there's not enough oil in gearbox. So first thing you can check is the oil level in the gearbox. It should be almost at te level of the filler plug. The oil level in the back is at a much lower level. If one of the 2 seals ...

Re: Choosing and finding a Fordson Major
Dan if you're going to use a topper or anything driven by PTO seriously consider a "Live Drive" Major I'm starting to think that's the way to go. Is there some way to tell by looking at the machine, e.g. a badge? EDIT On the subject of a Super Major, obviously this is quite pricey but, depending on...

Re: Power Steering Ram over extended.
I think the problem is there's a nylon nut on it.
Did you try to hammer on the side of the steering rod?
You could also to use this tool: https://www.amazon.com/GEARWRENCH-3916D ... B003YVWHOE

Re: some oil leaks
Rear axle. Start with pto seals before taking it down completely I don't think we know what has leaked, but if it does seem to be the PTO seal it should mean the oil is at the same level. If it's not it's the main seal (the oil wil be just below it in the gearbox). good point, will measure those le...

Re: some oil leaks
Rear axle. Start with pto seals before taking it down completely I'm afraid it will be the seal from hell (the upper one). I checked and the oil level really dropped a lot in the gearbox. And I almost did not use the pto, only a few minutes to try the winch. "That's actually the breather pipe to th...

Re: Choosing and finding a Fordson Major
Looks like an alternator fitted as well as a different starter. Yes, there's an ebay listing that mentions the alternator. What is the point in such a conversion? Long drive home though! At a stately 10mph... Dan Ask for a delivery? People who sell these, mainly have also a possibility to deliver i...

Re: Choosing and finding a Fordson Major
Anyway, the main problem living out here in Pembrokeshire is that we're so far away from centres of population that it's very difficult to view anything that's not local. Hard to justify driving five or six hours to say, the Marches and back on spec. So, as advised earlier, the best thing is probab...

put it on jack stands and let it spin. It will give you a better view on the rear wheels. Maybe the rim is not that straight anymore.
