Btw, the tape I've used to seal off openings and such of the hose is a tape normally used to tape the ends of a hockey club(black, kinda waxy-structure to it, once taped it won't come off easily) :)

Foxen, good thoughts. What gauges of wire do you use mostly for your harness? Battery terminal to ground and to starter: 00AWG Main feed from battery terminal via a 40A relay to fuse box and alternator to battery terminal: 9.5AWG Main feed from 15A fuse to light switch/ignition key: 11AWG St...

While buying a repro harness probably is the route to go if you wish to stay "original", I myself rather make my own harness and "update" the wire size in the process, if you fit modern lights(like 65W H4 halogen headlights) using the original wiring loom it probably won't be long until you toast th...

Well... I live in Sweden, and as said... the repro manifold can't be worse than the cracked one I have(it's so thin where the crack is that it can't be welded and the inner ear for the lug is gone), I'll take my chances anyway and post the results here, I was lucky with the tractormeter, it works go...

Ok I Just looked at 2 motors i have In Tractors the old major has the long filter and the powers & supers have the short. I took the measurement from the bottom of the lip where the cannister fits to the aluminium top housing down to the line at the bottom of the cannister where the end starts to t...

Thanks for the replies, I know the manifolds are held in place with bolts and not studs, but I'd like to attach the elbow with fashion, using aforementioned studs and brass nuts :) About the manifold I can hardly think that a repro even of half-poor quality could be worse than the one I have now as ...

No replies at all? Bummer... Does the filter housing look different between the two models or are they looking the same? I'm assembling a wishlist from agriline and thought I'd get a new oil filter amongst other things... and btw, does anyone know if agriline's manifold studs(that are depicted with ...

I was under the impression that if it's not hunting then it's not a Dexta. A hunting Dexta is as common as a Major with a clattering drive coupling.

Oil filter and agriline stuff

Not finding anything while searching and the spare parts catalogue doesn't actually tell me anything useful so I'll ask here instead... The oil filter element, which type am I most likely to have(or rather, how do I see the difference without undoing it?) if my engine is a september 1961 super major...

Re: ???

Can someone define "hunting"? I'd define "hunting" as rough idling, the engine is "hunting" for the rpm you've chosen with the throttle lever but overshoots it and then the governor will correct it downwards and undershoots... ex. you aim for 800 rpm and the tacho shows the engine fluctuating betwe...

It starts fine with just 12v, this was just a little idea I was toying with since it has been done with another brand of tractor here in sweden. Anyways, I've put this idea on hold because it causes a bucket load of other problems... Like the trailer plug socket, all trailers I have at my disposal w...

. I did the same thing on a couple of old machines one was an H-Farmall (gas), the other was a Old Yale/Hercules Fork Lift (diesel) that was a old militarily model that had a 24V electric system but couldnt find a 24V starter for it. I had problems with both, the same thing on each. The commutator ...

It's most likely the shims between the diff bearing carrier(the metal plate you refer to) and the rear end housing that has turned, try prying the shims around using something without damaging them..

Allright, today I fitted the Agriline clockwise tachometer on my FSM and it worked nicely, the tales about it fouling the fuel tank is true though, as one of the threaded rods for the mounting bracket will hit the top of the fuel tank, I rectified this by simply grinding off approx 1.2cm of it with ...

When you've been doing this for a while you'll get kind of a "fingertip"(rather arm or hand tho) feeling about what's just about right, torquing further after that "feeling" will make the bolt go "ping" ;) Trust me, been there, done that, learned it...
