Re: Hydraulic top cover swap

Just ordering up parts to get the 3pt linkage back in working order and started wondering why the top link rocker is attached to the back axle with a bush instead of a pin. Are there some attachments that require use of a pin through that bush? Would using a pin instead of a bush not be stronger and...

Sump strainer gasket

Has anyone had difficulty getting their sump strainer gasket to seal? I’m on my third attempt, I’ve put it together dry, I’ve put it together with hylomar, and last attempt I’ve tried it with a smear of grease, with a new gasket each time but every time it starts to leak after a few days. Any sugges...

Re: Hydraulic top cover swap

Sure enough the unload valve had seized. Once I got it out, cleaned up and replaced the o ring, hydraulics are now working perfectly. Thanks once again Sandy for the invaluable advice.

Now time to start painting….

Re: Hydraulic top cover swap

After not being near the tractor all summer, I finally got back to it and I have managed to source all the parts I needed to repair my hydraulic cover/controls. The new bits have all been installed exactly as it was dismantled, but I now have no hydraulics. If I remove the diverter valve and turn ov...

Re: Rebuilt engine running rough

Got the pump back from refurb - engine running perfectly now! The only problem now is the new injector lines I got from Agriline, none of which fitted without some degree of re-adjustment, but the line on no.1 is pouring out at the pump end as though I haven’t even tightened it. Any suggestions on h...

Re: Rebuilt engine running rough

Yes it’s the 20degree mark I’ve timed it to. The only thing that I’ve not had done for the rebuild is having the pump looked at. I’ll try to retard it slightly before I send it for a refurb.

Rebuilt engine running rough

I got my rebuilt engine running last week, but I’m not happy with how it’s running. It starts very easily but has a slight misfire, lots of white/grey smoke and what seems like a bit of a diesel knock. I have checked and rechecked all the timing marks and the valve clearances all as per the book. Th...

Re: Cylinder liner scoring

Thanks for the replies. Everything was well lubricated, not sure how I scored the liner, must have been a bit of dirt in it. Pretty sure it was me being in too much of a hurry that resulted in the damaged piston ring! The liners have a perfect crosshatch pattern in then after being machined, what’s ...

Cylinder liner scoring

I’m at the stage of reassembling the engine on the Dexta, it’s got the new liners in and it’s back from the engineers workshop after boring and honing and new crank is in. I installed piston 1&2 without a problem, got no 3 started but didn’t feel quite right pulled it back out and found that I’d man...

Seems to be a few of the 3000 tops about, might be worth a shot.

WANTED - Dexta hydraulic top cover

I’m after a hydraulic top cover to suit a dexta. Needs to have the 2 bolt quadrant assembly and flow control.

Plenty of 4 bolt/no flow control covers at breakers, the newer type seems a bit more scarce.

Re: Hydraulic top cover swap

Excellent thanks.

If anyone knows of a later hydraulic top cover with the 2 bolt quadrant assembly and flow control, please pass the details my way!

Re: Hydraulic top cover swap

Thanks for your reply. I would like to get the correct top cover but that’s proving to be a bit tricky, and if I don’t find one soon I’m going to be at a standstill. My thoughts were to put the old style top cover on so I can get the tractor useable again (if it will fit & work), it won’t be doing m...

Hydraulic top cover swap

Hi, this is my first post on this forum. I’m a month into restoring a 1963(?) Dexta that was in a pretty sorry state and I could do with some/lots of advice! The hydraulic quadrant assembly, diverter valve, lift arms and the spring/plunger assembly for the draft control are corroded beyond repair so...
