Re: Throttle parts needed

Definitely a lash-up as I think you suspected. Probably a Super D air cleaner, with no provision for the throttle.

Hope you get some proper bits sorted!

Re: Throttle parts needed

On a pneumatically governed Dexta, the friction assembly (items 10-17) is mounted on the air cleaner. Some of those parts can be bought from Agriline, but your best bet is a breaker. Fordson Dexta 13 on ebay is a good place to start, he may be able to help you. You could also try Malcolm Hipperson o...

Terry, you should have a thin brass backing plate as well as the gasket.
Hope the new pump works well - Mine did.

Re: How do the stabiliser bars work ?

On my TE20 I have turnbuckle stabilisers from the Cat.1 pin on the mudguard anchor bracket to the joint of the drop arm and the lift arm - the old fixing is removed and a new one, with an extended Cat.1 pin, is fitted (it also has a check chain retainer). On the basis if it fits a TE20 it will fit ...

Re: Oil Pressure Switch

Your engine block casting date is 5th Oct 1958, and your eng number which fits with my unofficial list of engine dates. So not a Super D block, but quite an early standard block. I can't tell you which thread your pressure switch will have, suggest you just remove it and see. You can easily test you...

Re: oil pressure

What grade oil are you using?

Consensus on here is that for UK we should be using 30W (and not multigrade).

Have a search on here for oil pressure, particularly for Brian's posts, as he has made quite a study on oils for our old ladies.

Re: How do the stabiliser bars work ?

As said above, the bars form a simple triangular linkage that limits lateral movement of the implement, eg to stop it fouling the tyres. In my experience, chains work better than bars. Chains only work in tension, whereas bars are alternately loaded in tension and compression. On my tractor the push...

Why ask Ben! the answer is evident, its a Bl***Y Ferguson part! :curse: :curse: :curse: :D :D :D Certainly one explanation! Looks like the MF ram is offset - what a pita! :( I wonder who makes the MF shafts and whether they would make us a batch of proper shafts, as it should be easy to move the sp...

Why are the splines on the new shaft offset?

You won't get the cooling without it. How much that matters, depends on how hard you want to work her and in what temps.

I may have one. If you send me the dims, and ideally a photo I will check for you, if you wish.

Re: Powder coat

I second oehrick's comment about being clinically/chemically clean.

I've had alloy wheels recoated and on some the coating has failed after 5-10 years, presumably because of underlying corrosion.

Re: SORN Vehicles.

Yes Brian, I think that is right. The landowner is responsible for anything that happens on his land, so if someone is hurt by a tractor, quad, bike, ...., that is the same as a tree falling on someone's head, being attacked by his cows or an electric shock. As you say, all landowners should have 3r...

See Electrical System, page 21 for correct Super D wiring diag: http://www.fordson.se/9_10_Dexta_verkstadshandbok_199-234.pdf Note that for the Super D, the key switch is separate from the light switch, a much more reliable set-up. Where did you get your loom from? In my experience, the best replace...

Pretty certain that Super D warning lights are the same as for a Standard D. Have a search on here for lenses and bulb holder. You want insulated bulb holders (two wires), and can get them from Autosparks. I suggest pressed steel lens holders, see Forge Services. eg see, http://www.fordsontractorpag...

Looks like the Forge ones are 35mm longer than original Dexta arms. I'd prefer to keep the original length, but email him for more details - he's usually very helpful. Yes that's quite a steep price, but they appear to be new and forged. I'd keep looking for an original arm, if time allows. Or get y...
