Starter Wiring and Solenoid Issue.
I have just recently fitted the fuel tank, and pipes, filled with lubricants and coolants etc, and I'm not desperate to get my Dexta barking. Ive wired the lights, ignition, regulator and flashed the dynamo (thanks to this site). I'd describe myself as a nove, always learning but the starter is beat...

Oil Bath Assembley Bowl/Cup. Difference in sizes?
Hi once again. I bought a second hand replacement oil bath for my 59 Dexta, the one wit the friction assembley attached. Now the bowl with the replacement one is shorter than the original and does not have the 'fill to exact oil level' lettering on it. The new one is a lot tidier than the old and I ...

Starter Brass Screw, For Negative Bat Lead?
Has anybody seen a brass screw situated on the Starter Motor here before? The negative battery lead was fixed here, but on other dextas it seems to be at the front of the starter...... Just wondering if this is original. Thanks again. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6179/6165883033_ffde10b047_m.jpg

Re: Throttle Rod Clips - are they safe?
Jerry.................lol.
Bertie Dunlop does have them. And to be honest a guy can worry too much. You should have seen what was holding my rods together, lol. This was the first time I knew these clips existed so I'm buying them off Bertie.
Safe as houses pal!

That picture with the L plate is now my desktop picture! Thank you. I havent seen hand cut turf in around 20 years. All machine cut now i'm afraid. It's seldom aswell that i've ever seen turf built loose on a trailer. We used to bag ours with the old fertilizer bags (a thing of the past now too). I ...

I'm a rookie DIY sprayer aswell. I bought a HVLP gun with a mini regulator, which I set at 40psi. Your gun should give you an operating pressure... I tend to use about 5% thinners because the temperature isn't so great here. I think I'm getting ok results. Rubbed the first blue coat down yesterday w...

Lord that takes me back. I spent many a happy day as a child with my Dad and our Dexta with duals on it. Always someone getting bogged. It used to be very common to cut turf in Northern Ireland and I always remember tractors getting bogged, heavy Browns or Majors, and the wee Dexta or TE20's having ...

Here is a picture of my front cowl, I sprayed yesterday. This is the colour of Sparex Empire Blue enamel paint. Does this look ok? It's a little bit darker in reality than in the picture. Here is a link, because I cannot insert images for some reason!! :curse: http://www.flickr.com/photos/skidancer/...

Bensdexta could you (or others) have a look at http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/shopping.asp?intDepartmentId=4#21 and pick what strip you think best matches your description. Re: Oil warning light wiring
I recently bought a loom and I have two bulb holders for the warning lights, but I've also discovered a third bulb holder, with a metal body, with an orange and yellow single cable running through it. Can anybody shed some light as to what this bulb holder may be for?
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: Dexta Diesel "Hunting"
I have always been led to believe that dexta's 'hunt'. In fact i don't believe I've ever heard a dexta running which didn't. This makes me laugh because my Dad has always complained that his dexta didn't 'hunt'. My uncle years ago worked at the governor until he got it to stop. It used to do his hea...
