Hey,
Not that I'm recommending it but... could file .314" off the end of each ring and it should squeeze in!
Maybe even less as I bought new SD rings from CNH and they have a end gap of .020" in the 3.6" bore ( a bit more than the .012" I was hopoing for!
Has it been done out your way?

Re: 3-Point lift not right
Thanks for the quick reply Brian,
In Position Control but also tried it in Draft for a few moments.
No stabilizer bars to top link but one to left side.
I'm sure that oil must be leaking past the bottom washer on the filter so no 12psi!
Off comes the top again!
Thanks again,
Les

3-Point lift not right
The lift on our '62 Super Dexta has not been right for some time. It works great with no or a small load on it but when loaded and moving the quadrant lever about 1/5 of the way up it will suddenly raise right to the top and stick there. Putting the quadrant lever to bottom and waiting a few minutes...

Niall,
We've often had to scrape or brush the battery posts and clamp on ours.
For some reason it builds up a glaze between the two on the Dexta?
Much more than any other tractor or vehicle we have.

Re: Hard Starting Dexta Help 2
Hi Jim and welcome to Dextas, Wiring harnesses come up on eBay and especially eBay.UK. Orfices have a spring loaded ball in them and maybe soaking it in penetrating oil would help free it up. Last December (Down for a Seahawks game but couldn't help checking out Dextas too!), there was a Dexta engin...

Re: proof meter
Gerry, From the ones I have seen the Smith models are rated at 1450rpm and the AC are 1412rpm to rollover one hour on the clock. Are your tachs possibly from early Dextas (pneumatic pumps) with the hours at the top? Our '62 Super Dextas have the hours at the bottom and the needle sweeps the top CCW ...

Re: Instrument Panel Screws and Bolts
Ben, On our '62 Super Dexta and '61 Petrol.... D and E are the same. C has the same head and thread but is shorter with a blunt point. B has the same thread but shorter and has a more rounded head. A has the same flat head as C, D & E but has machine threads. And the screws for the preheater button ...

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the parts info on tranny's.
We tap the moisture off the bottom every once in a while.
Really interested to hear more about your '61 Super Dexta.
Would be a very rare S. Dexta if it is all original.

Sorry Jerry,
Meant to ask the tach question of Will!
But sure not sorry to hear of your outing! That's fun!
I've got to (that should be "want to") fire up the Petrol with the loader and move some snow hiding in the shade of the shop.

Re: Dexta Proof Meter. Anti Clockwise or Clockwise?
Petrols are clockwise but the ones here aren't the same as shown on the link to eBay.
They have the hours at the top and the rev needle sweeps the bottom of the dial.
Jerry,
Is the clockwise one on your Dexta exactly like the one on eBay?

Re: breathin a bit
Hi Snowman, Really curious about not starting and you may have already discovered the problem but, Did it make any noise when it quit? And does it sound different than before while cranking and/or does it turn over more quickly? Might be a blown gasket between cylinders but still should fire on one....

They look similar to yours?

Hi Gerry,
From the old forum:

And depends a bit on the size of tires.
John, I think 64" is somewhere in the middle.
Cheers,

Re: Petrol Dexta cooling system hoses
Thanks TSG,
That's great news.
Once, somewhere on the web, I came across a coolant hose locator where there was input for size, length and bends and would return a part number.
I'll try and dig it up again.

Re: Petrol Dexta cooling system hoses
TSG,
How did you make out locating hoses?
I had heard that the Major filler hose would fit but haven't tried one.
The rads look very smilar to the Super Dexta so the filler hose might fit?
I tried the local CNH dealer but there are no original hoses hiding at any of the dealers in N America.

Re: Stabiliser Bars
Hi,
From as much as I can see from a couple of parts book drawings... the ends look straight.
But, there seems to have been an change from a round pipe type stabiliser bar to a flat iron bar sometime between 1959 and 1961 even though the parts numbers are identical (E133-WP-9).

I believe the spring and cross shaft were changed up at serial # 957E-83275.
