Re: Damn weather..... Note - fit a tub on the exhaust.
Glad you got it sorted out before too much grief. Had the same problem some years back with our Super Dexta with rain water following the pipe down into the manifold and the drain hole being plugged. Dad then brazed a thin washer or ring around the muffler pipe just above where it enteres the manifo...

Re: weight to front of dexta
Hi, We have used calcium chloride in the fronts as well the rears. Have seen some boxes with rocks or weights in them using 2 or 4 bolts mounted to the front axle. Many Dextas in the US seem to have Ford grill guards attached to the front axle. Maybe a modification of something like this one: http:/...

Great idea to check the numbers!dexta roadless wrote:I would check if the numbers on the big end bearings are pointing the right way. I believe they should point towards the camshaft
But... I think Dexta diesel big end numbers are a bit unusual and are to be facing away from the camshaft.

Hi My NZ Super dextas no is 09C734289 .I have had the tractor for 19 years now. There are quite a few super dextas in New Zealand. Les. Hi Les and welcome. Your Super Dexta would have a January/63 build date. The 09B prefix changed to 09C starting January/63 but the numbers remained consecutive up ...

Re: Dexta 'Newbie' here... and a few questions
Rob,
On our '62 Super Dextas I measured 141mm and 142mm from the lip of the cap that rides on the sump to the max mark.
Both are 42mm from min. to max. marks with 7M and 6mm left on the tip and are stamped with the same part number.

Re: My New Zealand Super Dexta Serial Number
Hi hooger,
Welcome and very happy to see another Super Dexta saved!
TSG,
Serial number could be right for a 1963 model.
I believe Brian once posted that the last Dexta/Super Dexta of 1963 was 09C934524.
Dextas started over again in 1964 with 09D90XXXX.
Cheers,
Les

Re: Dexta 'Newbie' here... and a few questions
Rob,
Maybe your date code is lower as in the last 2 photos.
My red arrow in the middle photo is pretty small but shows the location of the date code only.
The ENFO and T2 are in the same place on both tractors.
What progarm did you use to make the large arrows in your photo?

Yes,
A 1960 Dexta would have the pneumatic governor.
Looks like the entire engine was switched with the mechanical governor and pump giving you Super Dexta power. Guessing from the engine serial number maybe even a New Performance Super Dexta.

Hi Rob, Way to go and welcome. Rear axle casting number is on the right hand side (brake pedal side) towards the back and near the bottom although....... some early ones seem to have the date code above that nearer the top. Oil sender tap is mid block on the clutch pedal side. Originally was ...

Hi,
I think the alternator fan is an exhaust fan... and so pulls air through the back onto the rectifier and heat sink first and then exits at the front.
Someone else though might be able to confirm this.

Re: Petrol engine rebuild parts
I have got a Petrol Dexta parts list if you need anything copied. The MF35 has a similar engine except for the starter position top hose fittings and exhaust pipe bend, so there should be plenty of parts out there. Hi Brian, Can you tell me the difference between the two exhaust pipe bends? From eb...

Re: Need Some I.D.Help
Hi, A May/62 Dexta or Super Dexta should have originally had the mechanical governor. Super Dexta engines should have a engine serial number starting with 16..... (stamped into a flat machined area on the upper front of the engine block... above the injection pump.) Dexta engine serial numbers will ...
