Re: pneumatic governor diaphram
Did the job without removing the pump too, got mine from Dunlop's, local dealers tried to help but looked at me sideways when I mentioned what I wanted! The job was a fiddle, was most worried I'd puncture the diaphram trying to fit it but inthe end it worked out fine, just make sure the small protru...

I get this effect if I forget to close the small tap at the heater element and leave the tractor for a while then warm-start without using the heater.

governor settings
In the process of setting maximum and minimum revs (has been easy enough with the throttle linkage adjustments, I have also wondered about the 'maximum fuel stop screw' on the governor housing. Since replacing the governor diaphram the engine fires up less easily. Is there a known way for the layman...

pneumatic governor diaphram
After a bit of 'tractor therapy' going round in diminishing circles ahead of a mower I noticed the engine revs didn't drop much when I stopped. Did a forum search and as a result checked the diaphram: holes. The old one is stuck in, for now it can stay there until I find a replacement. Has anyone ha...

Re: Someone take me home
No mate, not narrow, just that in Nelson orchards were the mainstay of the economy and lots of small tractors were used, usually not very hard, just towing fruit bins on low trailers and a bit of mowing. Sometimes they were lowered using smaller rear wheels to fit under the apple tree boughs, thankf...

Only to bang my knees on! I suspect a previous owner had some kind of grille guard on, those bars are welded on or I'd take them off, they are useful for 'parking by braille' though!

Re: Show us your Fordson Dexta
The mower is a Chinese import, even most of our 'local' brands use chinese gearboxes and other parts. So far it's been fine. The wheel and the linkage keep the body off the ground so it clears the hard stuff! Copes well in low 2nd or high 1st for the sparse stuff. My Dexta is a 1961, same year as me...

Re: Does anybody in New Zealand want a petrol Dexta?
Mate, I'd love to but I'm in enough trouble already buying an alternator for my diesel dexta! Might revisit the idea if you've still got it in a few months... I sure hope there weren't any in the containers on that ship out of Tauranga.

wiring an alternator
Hi, I have been reading the topics about alternator conversions, I have acquired one from a mini, a Lucas 16ACR. The terminals are as below, I can use a spade connector from one of the large terminals to either the Battery +ve or the solenoid, does the other large terminal (the two are effectively o...

On a great big billboard advertising a rural bank on the main street of Levin in the North Island, even the kids recognised it, it was probably larger than a real one!
I guess advertisers see old tractors as the farmer's equivalent of your old fluffy toy!
