Re: New to this, 6 cylinder engine confusion
Hello me again, I have pulled down the last 590 - E engine here, and guess what? It is totally stuffed! It has the usual problems of leaky liners and leaking fuel return line, consequently the crankshaft is stuffed! (too far to grind ) on top of this, two of the bores have large cracks between them....

Moore Loader industrail clutch set up 1963
Hello everyone, I have recently bought a Super Major Moore loader which seems to be one of the first with the new 13" industrail clutch. The loader is a mess, being butchered with modifications and bullet holes, which has damaged several componets incuding the gearbox housing, ( which I will be repl...

E27N steering arms, row crop type wanted
Can anyone please tell me where I can get new E27N steering arms. I have fitted my E27N Malcolm Moor loader with a row crop axle from a E1A, but I need steering arms to suit, or my steering is going to be rather heavy. I do have the steering arm extension from the loader which will make the E1A arm ...

Re: Front axle pin renewal and casting machining
Hello oehreck, the quench method can not only shrink the pin but also bend it and in some other cases ( like a bush it can cause ovality too. I have not comer across an increase in shaft size from the hardening process but then It has been some ywears since I had anything to do with hardening, it is...

Re: Reverse Conversion gearbox
Hello Robert, my son has a Power Major with an engine number just 10 from my Power Major this will form the bassis of the conversion, with a reworked E 27 N diff housing. There was a "Ace loader" made based on a reverse Fordson. So as you see I was planning to use all the good bits from the E 1 A, t...

Re: Reverse Conversion gearbox
hello, my son and I are planning to build a reverse loader, and change the crown wheel, we would have liked it to have a crownwheel steady on the other side, but this is not possible. We are planning to use the E 27N rear housing and low ratio, as it has a higher clutch and brake pedal shaft, we als...

Re: 590 e engine
Hello Frans, I purchased a siezed 590 E engine for $50, it had layed on the ground for at least 20 years. I removed the gearbox to find that the clutch had disintergraded and jamed the flywheel, when cleaned all the clutch lining out, the engine turned freely, so I had a win! A previous person had f...

Hello dingbat, your id does not show a country, which may cause some confusion. There seems to be different filters used in different counties. There were Fram, Tecalament and other brands of filter housings used and pipes to these filters varied. Final assembly of both tractors and trucks occurred ...

Re: New to this, 6 cylinder engine confusion
Hello everyone, Please be aware that by fitting new bearings and ground crank, that a problem may be created by excessive loading on the sides of the bearings, ( thats right the sides not the top or bottom ! ) To understand this issue it is necessary to understand how manufacturers produced these an...

Re: Front axle pin renewal and casting machining
Thanks pat, Being a 1st calss machinist by trade I have done hardening by a few methods including quenching, nitriding & carburising these last couple need intense heat, and carburising takes hours in a furnace, so your suggestion may be well worth trying. Please be aware that during the hardening p...

Re: Injection pump bearings
Hello Robert, yes you guessed it, the catalogue description stated Injection bearings, and I didn't read the fine print which stated that they were actually for another purpose. The description should have called them Auxillary drive bearings as this shaft not only drives the injection pump, but als...

Re: Spool Valves.
I have been considering this issue myself and I have decided to permemantly block the supply tube from the tapping point at the right hand rear of the seat and the TPL lift handle, ( need to remove the valve body to get it out ) I see no reason why I shouldn't take a supply from this taping point an...

Re: Front axle pin renewal and casting machining
Yes I forgot the pins in the F would be the same, I don't have that model, thanks for the reminder. Co - incidentally I have two lathes and a milling machine too, but I can't do the case hardening at this stage. Old Hydraulic shafts make good material to make the front casting bushes from, but the r...

Re: injector filters blockage
I found one! I have a few injectors here, I screwed out 37 of those distance pieces and found ONE which has a removable brass sleve which is obviously the side filter quoted in the early workshop manuals on page 90. Amoung the rest there were several differences, some had a smaller hole drilled, som...

Front axle pin renewal and casting machining
Hello all, I have been slowly replacing the front axle pins in all my Fordsons, therefore I was wanting to reduce the wear as much as possible. I ordered a brand new 1" pin from a well known world wide supplier, only to find that someone along the line cannot tell the difference beween 25mm and 1". ...

Hello Robert, I had another look, and the secionalised view appears on page 90 of the 1954 dated Repair Manual, so I may have been corerct about it being discontinued. As you say all filtration should occurr before the injection pump....
