Re: J.J. Thomas conversions

Hi, I am interested in JJ Thomas conversion as well. :D From what I have read during times UK Ford dealer JJ Thomas bought second hand Ford 5000 tractors with selectospeed. They exchanged the gearbox at Ford for a regular 8 speed gearbox and put a 6 cylinder engine before the backend. I believe they...

Re: Newbi with question ford 7610

Hi,

I can't help you with the tyre specs of the 7610, because the brochure I have, doesn't show them. :'(
However I do have them of the 6710 (13.6x28 front; 16.9x38 rear).
The 7710 has the same specs for its tyres. I hope this will help you?

Hi Frode,

Is the word "County" stamped on the front axle or the 4wd box?

Re: New member, some questions...

Welcome to this board Juan Carlos! Why would you want to turn around the front axle? I have seen this on a Major because the engine was replaced by a 6 cilinder which had a different (aluminium) sump, that couldn't handle the A-frame. With the 6 cilinder conversion on a Major, a additional subframe ...

Perhaps it's an Industrial axle, which can handle more weight?

Do you have any pictures of your 4000?

It's indeed something special! :D

But I guess a 75 HP petrol engine is not known for it's power?
For a road run it would be great..but be carefull when cornering. :eyes:

Re: County near by

Hi Pat, If you get the chance, you should make an offer on this beast! My guess it's an 1164, because more are made of them from 1971 till 1978. The 1174 is only made from 1977 till 1979. But Frode could be right as well...the difference is quite small apart from the (original) cab The 1164 has 116 ...

Hi VonZu, How's your great 4600-4 doing? I have recently bought the 4600-4 operator's manual and fitting instructions for the 4WD kit (unfortunately only in French and Spanish, but with several pictures). Interested in a copy?
