Re: Running In!!
Hi. I think the plough bodies are just GP (General Purpose) ones, to be honest I wasn't measuring how deep I was ploughing, but I guess it was around 5-6" She was working hard, but not out of her depth as the engine could still be throttled up easily when running at 1600 rpm. My exhaust is awful and...

What will she do now? Will she work for a living, or be pampered and polished?

More pictures... I've since reset my valve clearances and now she will handle the plough in 2nd gear relatively easily, even today, when it was rather sticky indeed! https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-oz8UYe_Q6iY/UJ_TZBslhdI/AAAAAAAAAD8/Qgd3JqLmQoM/s1024/IMG_1366%255B1%255D.JPG https://lh4.googleuse...

Re: Roll out - at last!
Looking good, just need some nice weather now to get a plough or something on it and run in...
Just got mine sorted and running well, and all we get is rain, rain, rain, no ploughing for a few days here, at least.
Have fun...

Re: Doris NP Super Dexta rebuild
Hi.
If you have a stick (ARC) welder, simply run a bead of weld through the bush and it will tap out relatively easily.
The new one should go in without too much hassle, I put a little copper grease on mine... not sure if it was a good idea or not, but it's not fallen out yet!!

Re: Chuffing air filter
Hi. I checked my valve clearances tonight and they were a mile out!
It's made the world of difference, quieter, chuffing from the air filter stopped and almost no smoke!
Thanks for the top Chris

Chuffing air filter
Hi.
I can hear a pronounced chuffing sound through the air filter on my 1958 Dexta. Does it mean I need more oil in, or less? Or is it another problem entirely?

Noisy Aftermarket Exhausts
Hi. I have fitted one of the aftermarket exhausts for a Dexta to my tractor, and firstly, I have a problem that it leaks exhaust gases from between the manifold and the outside of the exhaust, and secondly it doesn't really function as a silencer, and is really quite noisy! Has anyone else had this ...

Re: In gear but won't move
Hi Linda.
I think you need to adjust the clutch, which if I remember correctly on mine, I had to do by either lengthening or shortening the clutch rod (the rod between the pedal and the clutch cross shaft)
If i'm wrong, post back and let me/us know and we'll try and help again!

Re: Radiator
Hi. Yes, a re-core will completely replace the middle bit of your radiator (between the top and bottom tanks) so it will effectively be a new radiator.
And you really do need to get a fan shroud, as the lack of one will seriously lessen the effectiveness of your fan

Re: My Dexta just stopped
Hi. I feel that I should just mention that although you have cleared the blockage for the moment, it is quite possible that it will block again, due to the tank having in it, more of what blocked it in the first place. The permanent solution to this is to remove and perhaps pressure wash out the tan...

My suggestion would be to use some of this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hylomar-Insta ... 3cc7b97388
It's fantastic for stopping leaks.

Hi.
Very tough engine the 3cyl in the Dexta.
I know of one with over 10,000 hours on the clock with nothing apart from oil changes being done!
It takes a bit of starting now, and like yours leaks a bit of oil, but still pulls strongly.
