Re: Fordson Diesel Major Dynamometer Test D Series 2701E
Hi Stu Sadly I don't have pictures of mine, I Had it running and used it a bit, then got a NPSM to replace it for grass cutting duty. It was in the workshop having some tidy up/ improvement work done on the front axle& frame rails. it was in the way so dad hooked a chain on the front casting to move...

Hi Stu
It runs real nice now, Thanks for posting the video . To be honest I think the figure you got was about 75-80 ish hp. the one i built was a pretty lively tractor, when it was running with a 12ft trailed Deere cultivator on here in Canada .

Hi I hope he finishes the axle top off with a cover. looks like an excuse to visit the hospital as it is now :eyes: :run: . As for the tractor he used, i would think screwing up a rare very nice looking Pet /tvo tractor wasn't smart either  . That one runs about as well as my straight petrol in...

Re: Rear lights - 1953 New Major
Hey Laurie, I thought the chain looked nice when the pic was first posted, I also wondered if (due to the apparent lack of catenary curve) it was either pulled up tight on the check chains OR if it was a bit of chain that had its links welded while in a straight line - put me out of my misery porte...

Re: Diagram for primary gearbox required
Hi Paudie. When you removed the clutch at the start of your "Major" Project  , and did the clutch was there oil in the middle of the clutch assembly, or oil on the small input shaft, or any sign now. if so you need to replace that little seal. if it was all dry don't worry until it does start ...

Hi 6k unless you can find a motor shop that has a gasket set on the shelf in one of the big cities , A&I will probably be your quickest source. I got a couple sets on the shelf here but I can't get them to you any quicker than sourcing your own, with crossing into SK  . If your real stuck and i...

Cheers Brian, I'm going to go look tomorrow il post some pics if I buy fingers crossed its a proper one :D Hi Woodcutter if my thinking is correct and it's an original NPSM it should have 540 pto at 1500 rpm marked on the rev counter if it's got the original clock fitted still. the SM would be 540,...

Re: new member - super major or power major
Hi Alan Thanks for the pictures and info, The number you gave me on the other site was power major with 148 no. now we have 146 that changes to being one of the last new majors before the powers. But not sure what the number is stamped on the block, unless it's part of an 08B rather than a 086, and ...

Re: spool valves
Hi Can you post pictures of what you took off and what you put on. There are a few different types of valve, and A description doesn't really help with what you actually have. some guys only plumbed one line on a DA valve, or it might just be a single line only, then you can't run DA cylinders. seei...

Hi Alan That number you gave me on the other forum, was on the motor under no 1 injector correct :?: . does the number on the plate say the same thing or different, as all my powers and supers, just have a makers plate no numbers stamped there, just the block numbers. on ordinary majors i have the n...

Re: New Project, The Holy Grail, County Super 6
Hi Steven Thats a nice looking tractor, I would like one here in Canada to go with my 954 :) , but got no chance of ever getting one at any price here now, they all got shipped back to the U.k a few years ago, or guys that still have them won't sell at any price. word got round they are rare and $12...

Re: New Member and stalled Fordson Major
Hi Majorfan95 Welcome to the forum :D , Don't panic just yet  . You could have some junk floating round in the tank that temporarily starved it of fuel or plugged the tank outlet. sometimes undoing a bleed screw will make the junk go back in the tank. or the junk moves on it's own when the tra...

Re: Cast Aluminium Steering wheel
Hi Barry your tractor looks sharp on the back cover. One thing kinda concerns me with the Roadless comment for the big steering wheel. why would they have gone to all that trouble to produce a steering wheel about an inch bigger, to exactly the same style pattern to the fordson one. Roadless product...

Re: Cast Aluminium Steering wheel
Robert, I have been awhile chasing this up, but I have gone through 700 odd pages of Part Numbers, Supersession Lists and Parts & Accessories Catalogues. There is nothing mentioned of an aluminium steering wheel for the New Major in any of the publications. The only interesting bit to show, was tha...

is it possible that the person i bought this major off had an electrical switch fitted and would the ordingary mechanical switch fit in here Hi I just remembered to go look at my older Majors before it got dark here :) . I have 2 different style oil pipe fittings from the block/ pipe end. 1 is a 90...

Re: Vibrating motor
Hi if we could have the numbers you got that will help us. The other thing is does the motor have the fuel pump bolted right to the timing case, or is there a visible coupling between the motor and the front of the fuel pump. Some guys call the later 65 up to 80's industrial motor a major motor on e...

Re: Is this the oil pressure switch
Hi Yes the pipe fits there :) . Something tells me there is an adapter fitting screws in the block and then a banjo fitting on the end of the pressure pipe, and a banjo bolt screws in to that to hold the pipe in the block fitting. I will look at an original tractor and confirm it tomorrow its dark a...

Hi That info is for a 13 single disc clutch used in some tractors that are non live drive. Re: Clutch rebuilt but not working
Hi If the adjuster screws are original or exact replacements, with a good domed head on, you will be surprised at how far you can adjust them to make a lot of difference. when i did the clutch here. I was using nuts on there edge under the adjuster screws as spacers to try set the heights even, then...
