TVO

Post by The Tractor Kid »

Hi when my e27n is running on 28 sec heating oil when left on tick over for more than 5 mins it wont rev up right away it splutters and farts and then it picks up and then its fine and runs no problem. I have replaced the govnor and when you pull out the throttle it responds right away and openes the throttle. It is fine when running on petrol any ideas???

28 sec is not good enough on its own, you need at least 1 gal of petrol and 1 gal of diesel to every 5 gal of 28 sec. I would tend to add a little more petrol and see if it improves.

Tvo should be 78 octane which is why you need to add petrol to the 28 sec heating oil which is why it doesn't want to rev up happy as the manifold has cooled down not allowing vaporisation.
The mixture i would use is:-
4 gallons of heating oil
1 gallon of petrol
1 gallon of diesel
and for the smell 250ml of Castrol R 2stroke oil

James

The Castrol R I can understand, but I cant see the point of adding diesel to a TVO mix, this ; http://www.fofh.co.uk/tech/tvo.htm seems a reasonable explanation.

Thr diesel is for lubrication as both the 28 sec and petrol are "dry" at the temperature in the vaporiser and it helps to lubricate the valve stems.

Castrol R is for smell only if you like that sort of thing. :D . For me, the smell of the mix is exactly like the tractors used to smell back in the 1950's.
