Lift problems

Post by wardsway »

Hi I am the proud new owner of a Fordson Major Diesel I believe to be from 53-55. The lift works well until I go to lift weight and then it won't operate. Any suggestions or help on what might be causing this? Also is there a way I can tell exactly what year model I do have.

I'd see what the pump pressure is for a start.

I suggest that you repost on the Fordson New Major part of the site. Could be the pump, ram seal, check valve or several other parts.

TY very much for your help. My husband cut his hand requiring stitches and torn ligaments in two fingers, so it'll be awhile before we can jump back on this project. I can't wait though :)

Dandy, Ty for your concern. Sorry to say, he cut it taking off a bolt on the Major. All is better he had his stitches taken out yesterday, so we should be able to start back working on her soon. He's been pouring over his new manual which came in while he was down. Anyone needing a manual can order it through Tractor Supply.
