Yup! IT was cold this morning. - 14 on one thermometer, -11 on another.

The self starter barely cranks the engine over.
An hour on the 6 amp charger to warm the battery, make sure the hydraulic pump is disengaged, and a bit of starting aid (ether) had her ticking over in short order.

Winter's snow seems so hard on equipment .
Aggressive tire chains are needed when the snow is firm.

Vermont eh! Used to spend 3 weeks at a time in Manchester, New Hampshire usually late fall (my boss seemed to book my time there after the last leaf had fallen) just when it used to start to snow.
A useful tip (learnt when in the Army in Germany) when trying to start a diesel when very cold is as follows:

1, Pull out the stop cable (this ensures no diesel fuel will be injected into the combustion chamber which will cool it further)

2. Crank the engine for a 10 - 20 seconds (This ensures oil is circulating and that the incoming air is being compressed and starting to warm up the combustion chamber)

3, Push in the stop cable and because the chambers are warmed up a bit then the diesel being injected has a chance to ignite rather than just cool the chamber.

This is most useful especially on indirect injected engines.

I have a 230V heater-element in the bottom radiator hose. 2 hours plugged in and it starts up as in the middle of the summer.

The Fordson E27n does not have a lower radiator hose.

IT's ALL cast iron, top to bottom.
