Sirs,

I have mounted the drop arms and lift arms from a 54 major on a 51 E27N, but that do not seem right.

Can anyone please measure the following on a E27N:
- lengt of lift arms, with distance to holes for cheek chains and drop arms.
- lengt of drop arm or leveling box

The problem is that the lift arms was not there when i bougth the tractor, and i have put on a set of arms and linkage from a 1954 major, as it looked pretty much the same from pictures i have seen.
But it turns out that it is not the same as the end of the arms is now too high from the ground, and seems to stick too far out from the rear.

So my question is if someone could be kind to give me the length of the lift arms, and lengt of the leveling box arm so that i could compare, and modify the 54' arms to my E27N

Hi TK,

The dimensions you want are as follows.

Length of the lift arms is 32 inches or 813 mm between ball centers. Starting from the Tractor there are 3 holes toward the centre. The First at 13 1/2 inches or 343 mm, the second at 16 inches or 406 mm and the last at 18 inches or 357mm. I think the check chains go into the 13 1/2 inch hole, but I can't say for sure as my other tractor that has the arms fitted is not at home and I only have my other set which are not on the tractor they belong to yet.

My drop arm is locked up in the shortest position at the moment which is 22 inches or 559 mm long from the lift to the lower arms. I guess the maximum they could go to is close to 30 inches or 762 mm. The bottom of my drop arms have two holes the lowest at 22 inches and a second hole 2 1/2 inches or 63 mm further up.

I hope this helps. I also found that changing the draw bar height also changes the height of the arms.

Post some more photos of your P6 if you can. I would love to see how it looks blue rather than half yellow.

P.S. I have just been looking at Foxens photos of his tractor restorations and photo number six on his photo site on page 11 probably tells the story as to why your lift arms are too high. The upper drop arm part is E1A the lower one is E27N.

Thanks very much for your reply, that is what I was looking for.

I will compare this dimensions to what I have.

From the picture on Foxens site, the lower part of the drop arm and leveling box arm looks differen, so as you say, there is my biggest problem due to the height.

Yes the half yellow tractor is blue now, exept for the fuel tank and mudguards wich is in primer, waiting for blue. I will update with some pictures shortly

The lower arms from a New Major are approx. 5.5 inches longer than those from the E27N. Therefore your Check Chain holes will be further to the rear.

The other thing to check is that you have fitted the Top Arms correctly on to the Pump Housing, they will fit either side but if fitted wrongly you won't get the maximum lift height. This also shows as your bottom arms will finish up closer to the ground.

Thanks, it make sense that the new major lift arms is 5,5 inch longer. It is hard to get E27N parts in Norway, so I have to shorten the ones that I have.

Here is how the P6 looks now. The fuel tank and fenders was mounted during Easter. The next is to put the wiring on. I have purchased a complete wiring loom with correct coding according to the original wiring diagram so that should not be a problem.




Regarding the lift linkage, I have shortended the lower arms, and have to lengthen the top arms to get it right.

Do you have a picture of your 3pt lift linkage? I have the E27N on mine since the super major one I had was wrecked... I wouldn't mind having the newer one that can be bought at OIE, but I lack the cash for it so I guess the E27N will stay, it's in pretty much mint condition
