E27N Dash

Anyone got pictures of an E27N dash? - I'd like to see which switches/guages go where, and what type were used

Hi Tim,
There was never much in the way of gauges on the E27N TVO, just an amps gauge. If you have the early kidney dash then you had three switches, a light switch on the left and a horn switch on the right with the amps gauge in the middle with a starter switch in the middle under the amps gauge. On the later square dash you had the starter switch that is mounted on the left end of the box, with the other switches on the front in the same order as kidney dash lights left horn right and I think amps gauge in the middle. The horn switch can be bought new from

The light switch can be replaced with a Dexta one which you can get from Agriline etc. but you will need to make some sort of adaptor to mount it as the mounting lugs do not line up or just keep an eye out on ebay and sell your first born, well not quite, I got lucky and got one for just a little more than the price of a Dexta switch.
A repro amps gauge and dash boxes can be purchased from
http://www.queensberryccs.co.uk/Home_Page.php I have no experience regarding their dash boxes but their amps gauges are OK, definitely not original but they do fit and work. They seem to sell most of their stuff on ebay but you may be able to do some personal shopping since you are on the same island at least.
The later square box starter switch was a large mushroom head switch that was mounted on the left end of the square dash. I was told it was used on several early British cars by BarryM from the forum. I don't think there is much information that he does not know about the E27N. I do not know what type of starter switch was used on the early kidney dash tractors.
Sorry I can't help much with photos at the moment as the dash panels that are vaguely original are in storage and my working E27N is nowhere original.

Thanks for that, Frank, least I have a starting point!
- I have the kidney type dash which I think is correct for an early 1948 E27N. Will just have to be on the lookout for the right bits to go in it now..

Tim,
I can't add much more than Frank. He has covered it quite well. The Starter Button is quite common as it was used on Austin & Ford Trucks. In later years it became the Horn Button for the New Major. Your Starter Motor should have a solonoid on the end of it. This means you can start it by pressing the rubber covered button
