Hey people!
I've got a question: Can you see from the outside what kind of gearratio is fitted in a Fordson N (Standard) gearbox?
I can buy a Fordson N Industrial and I would like to know if it's a "fast" or a "slow" one...
Hope to hear from you guys!!
Greetings,
Martijn

Re: Gear Ratio Fordson N
I know that the F's had different ratios. Just how many I am not sure. The N is similar. Dandy Dave!
Have a Fordsonful day Folks!

Martijn,
Remove the Belt Pulley and you will see the Transmission Plate. Locate the Reverse Idler Shaft. It has a Peg above and a Peg below. If the Pegs are pressed in, then it is a High Speed. If the Pegs are held in by castellated nuts, then the Transmission is a Low Speed 4.3.

Re: Gear Ratio Fordson N
Another way to check is to remove the spark plugs, select top gear and wind over 10 times. low ratio will move about 3 ft and high ratio 7 ft.
This is based on 28" wheels. it is not perfect but gives a quick guide if you are not able to remove covers.
