REMOVING GEARBOX FROM FORDSON N

Post by Richards Fordson »

Hi,
Just after some advice.
I am renovating a 1942 Fordson N
I have stripped my standard down, removed engine, crown wheel and half shafts etc. leaving the rear casting. I removed the ring of bolts that secures the gear box to the casting but I cannot get the gear box out of the housing.
Does anybody know the procedure?
All advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

Phone Keith or Richard of Cotswold Vintage Tractors on 01386841983 they will be able to help you.

Tell them that Gerald suggested that you phone them.

Hi gerald,
thanks for advising me about Cotswold Tractors.
They were a great help. The gear box is out as well as the worm wheel.
So next stage to off to the shot blasters and then reassembly can commence.
For your info. After the 7 bolts holding the gear box plate in place are removed the gearbox comes out with a good knock. I used a piece of wood as a drift and a large hammer.
