E27N Headlight question

G'day to all,

Recently, i put an ad in Trader tag. i was looking for a project tractor, something to focus some spare time into. I wanted a Fordson N originally, but the first call i got was from a bloke who had 2 TVO E27N's. I told him i wasn't really interested in buying the TVO Major because they didn't have hydraulics and he told me they needed alot of work. Towards the end of the conversation he mentioned he had a P6, and it still ran. Quite well. but another bloke was already looking at it. A few more weeks past and i gave the bloke a call back and told him i'd like to inspect the P6, and away i went. On inspection it revealed that at some point in time E1A hydraulics were fitted, but other then that it was a factory fitted Perkins P6. Brought it for $2000.

What i really want to know is, why are my headlight brackets shorter then the standard E27N one's? i thought they were cut down at some point, but they are one piece cast, no welds etc present. i can't find any information anywhere about it. does anyone out there know?

E45NP6,

The Headlight Arms on your tractor are not standard Fordson Arms. They may be home cast arms. Both types of E27N Arms were of the 'crank' type and the first in the series was well gone before the P6 arrived. A close up photo of the Arms would be handy.

Will try and get some more photos of them this weekend.

if they were home made, they are very professional.

I'm going to start to pull the tractor down in the next few weeks, and begin sand blasting.

G'day all.

Project is underway, and i intend on posting all pictures of the restoration on this website, as there doesn't seem to be many start to finish resto pics up.
I'm only 19 years old but i know a project like this is not beyond me.

I've been all over the web, looking for some original headlight brackets, i've made several international calls to the UK looking for a pair or even one to start, but everywhere i call tell me they can't help me. IS their any Australian out there willing to sell/lend me a pair or one? I've got the idea of having a few sets cast in aluminium. if i had a reproduction pair then i wouldn't need to worry, but in my mind headlights can make or break a restoration. post if your interested in the idea :P

Have you tried Cox & Turner in the UK? I'm sure they've remanufactured headlight brackets in the past - http://www.coxandturner.co.uk
or ebay http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Cox-and-Turner-Engineering.
Cotswold Vintage Tractors sometimes get them in, http://www.cotswoldvintagetractors.com
