JUST WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT TIMING THE MAG ON MY E27N I HAVE HAD IT OFF TO GET IT CHECKED I HAVE NOW PUT IT BACK ON AND I HAVE TOOK OFF THE VALVE COVER AND ON NUMBER 1 CYLINDER WITH THE INLET VALVE JUST ABOUT TO CLOSE THE MAG INPULSES TO NUMBER 1 BUT IT IS BACK FIRING THROUGH THE AIR INTAKE ON THE CARB NOT SURE WERE I HAVE GONE WRONG ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY HELPFULL THANKS ANDY

Hi Andy,
The way you have timed the magneto is nowhere near number 1 top dead center, hence why it is now back firing. The way to get close to number 1 top dead center is to look for the point where number 4 exhaust is just closed and number 4 inlet is jut opening. When both valves are at ebout the same opening you will be very close to 1 top dead center. A stick down number 1 plug hole will tell you the rest. Just make sure you tie a string on to it to get it out if you drop it in or use some other means to make sure it can't fall in as it is a pain pulling the head off just to get your feeler probe out.
