hello, I'm looking at buying a major to run my 14t square baler, a friend of mine tells me i can't run a deere baler with it because the gear ratio is different, so 540 pto is achieved a at only 1200 rpms. myself I think it wouldn't be a problem, can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance

Hi i think what your percived problem is that the major backend was built for a 1200 rpm motor the e27 when the new major came out it reved harder so it could be a problen you were surposed to back off which mucked up speed and power and each new modle reved harder which makes it even worse however a fix was bought out the raised pto an option that solves this just have to make sure you get one also solves the lift pump stoping with pto as you turn off pto on rasied box also want live drive option looking at it the pto either comes straight out of diff just above tow bar or on back off diff you have a teadrop shaped housing bolted on back with gear leaver in side and pto 10 " higher if you have a taco its marked with two pto speed postions with and without rasied pto hope this helps b

Hi, you don't say if your major will be an E27N or an E1A. I have used a JD baler behind an E1A without any problem but a duel clutch does help when you get to thick bits. I bailed thousands of bales years ago using an E27N with an International baler it is much the same size so it should be OK but of course you wont have a dual clutch.

Ok, so do both the E27N, and E1A achieve 540 pto at 1200 engine rpm?
Thanks
