E27 N Hydraulic tap

My 1950 E27n is fitted with the single lever Hydraulic lift. On the left side is a tap that's on this machine is plugged with a bolt, From looking at the hydraulic layout in my copy of A.
Condie's articles written for "Trac-Prez" so many years ago, It appears this is a pressure tap suited for single acting remote cylinders like dump trailers or repair jacks.
The layout also suggest I would need to chain down the 3pt lift arms if I wanted to use the tap without the lift cycling though it's entire range of motion each time.
True?
Any doing it?
By the way, 'anyone else have a collection of those old Fordson Magazines? "For the advice and entertainment of tractor preservationists Everywhere".
Cheers
