N rear wheel bearings

Hi guys
I have acquired an N from a friend on spade lugs, once I had it running I noticed a lot of movement in the wheel bearings, on stripping found one had sezed up and worn flat and the other was generally worn out.
I managed to get a good second hand diff and half shafts as the half shafts where worn too, the crown wheel and worm was shot too! got new bearing cases and what I was lead to believe good second hand bearings.
Put all together and packed with grease and all movement up and down seemed to have gone.
I have since driven around fields and probably gone no more than a mile or 2 at the most and on jacking up this eve notice some small play up and down has reappeared.
So my question, is this standard for these or should I look at getting brand new bearings? Or shrug my shoulders and leave well alone as the most it will ever do is pull a plough at a working day perhaps twice a year?
Any comments would be welcome!
Thanks Matt
