Vibrating motor

Post by Paddles »

Hi, doesn't anyone know how to identify the model of a Fordson major motor diesel from any way other than a number on the motor, There is a serial number but can not find model number, the motor is in my yacht, and need to find out what year and model it is have a workshop manual for the motor but it covers 7 different models, the motor has a problem with vibration, the mechanic has reset the timing and tappets, thanks

Hi
if we could have the numbers you got that will help us. The other thing is does the motor have the fuel pump bolted right to the timing case, or is there a visible coupling between the motor and the front of the fuel pump.
Some guys call the later 65 up to 80's industrial motor a major motor on ebay and it isn't . you have Dagenham, Dover, and Dorset series. all 3 are different in some way or another. 4 or 6 cyl will help to as if 6 it would be an industrial or truck 6 cylinder
