E27n Front Transmission

Post by fizza »

Seeing that I have the tractor split to work on the motor, it seems sensible to replace the oil seal behind the transmission plate. Transmission oil is seeping into the bell housing, although it does not appear to be coming past the oil seal but from through the plate gasket.
Either way there is a leak.
I understand I just need to remove the pulley drive, gear stick and clutch fork and undo the 8? bolts, then withdraw the gearset. HOWEVER, will I have a problem replacing it, getting it to engage in the spline that it came off?
If anyone has done this job did you have any problems?

Hi Bob,

You can just undo the bolts and take the tranny out. Replace gasket with paper and silicone and refit. Realy straight forward. My advice would be to change the input shaft seal as well, when your're allready in there.

Please bear in mind, parts are really heavy. You don't need any special skills, even I've managed it with good results in the past.

Just needed a pat on the head and to be told it will be O K.
I will definitely replace the oil seal as well as the gasket.
