I am aware of the split pulley with shims to set belt tension.
However I find great difficulty doing this job, when the sheet metal shroud is in place around the fan.
I have seen a tractor with such a tensioner (which bolts into that spare hole in the front cover
above the governor).
Has anybody else seen one of these tensioners?

Re: E27n fanbelt tensioner
I have never seen a factory one, but we made one for our N out of an implement belt idler pulley. Not complicated to make.
Our E27N uses the generator to tension the belt. I take it yours does not have electrics?
