New owner of a Fordson Major Diesel

Post by Joe Power »

Looking for advice. I just got a Fordson Major Diesel and have some questions. It appears to be a 1950s vintage and it runs well. I dont have a key--had to jump it. Anyone know where to get a key for it? Also, I think I broke the bush hog (or it may have been on its last leg). The part that the drive shaft goes into has four bolts on the underside and 3 of them came out and it appears the torque bent it such that it cant screw down on the gasket--the fluid leaked out and it seized. I need to get that part --any ideas on where? Also, I fear no parts are available. Does anyone know of a brand of bush hog (or is it brush hog?) that attaches to this tractor--and where I might get it. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Two things that will help.
Where are you? Country?
What make of brush hog?

Majors usually have the key number on the centre of the switch, MRN ---, old car people may be able to help.

Welcome Aboard Joe :D Sounds like that mower had problems before you got it. Brian is right, we need to know the make of the mower. Your country is also important as the Fordsons were shipped and sold all over the world. Dandy Dave!
Have a Fordsonful day Folks!
