pre set linkage control

hi there folks someone who lives close to me has been scrapping a few majors this week and i have been stripping as many spares as i can ie pump, pto gearbox,top cover for hydraulics,front hubs etc and one of the things was a pre set linkage control has anyone used one and do i need a special top link it breaks my heart to see all these tractors being scrapped but scrap is about£250 per tonne so he is cashing them in

I'm not sure what a preset linkage control is. Do you have a picture of it?

I hate it when people scrap Majors, too. The good thing is that they only weigh 2 1/2 tons, so even when scrap is high, they're not too expensive to buy before they go to the scrap yard.

I also like old Cat bulldozers. When scrap gets this high, you just have to wave good-bye when they're on their way to the junk yard :(

I rescued a 1950 Cat D4 -6-U last summer. :D Started it up and drove it out of the storage shed. The owner said it was me, or the scrap yard. :shock: I have also saved a Model 12 Road Grader several years ago. It is one of only 56 built with a gas engine. The serial is 6M-17. 8) Dandy Dave!

Dave,
I have a 1936 RD-4, a 1942 D-8, and a 1944 D-7.
I don't want to hijack wee blue tractor fan's thread any more than we already have, so one of these days, I'll post some pics of them in the Misc. forum.
