My Fathers Fordson Major

This is a few pics of my Father's Fordson Major. It is located near Paducah Kentucky. I have very little knowledge about it but it was running not to long ago. Okay well I thought I would download pictures . What is the procedure to put in pictures

Welcome to Fordson Tractor Pages.
I moved your post to this forum, since you have a New Major. I got rid of the photo posting stuff, too.

Your tractor is a Fordson Major Diesel. Someone painted it to look like a New Performance Super Major. It looks pretty good that way, but the original color was all blue with no white. That narrow front is pretty rare. I noticed that injector pump is off. Are you having it rebuilt?
I'll send you some tips on how to post pictures, tomorrow, when I'm more awake, unless someone else does first.

Thanks JC . The reason I came on this site is to figure out a value for the tractor or see if there is any interest in it here. My Father is 86 and has Alzheimer's and I'm afraid he will need to go in a nursing home. They cost a lot of money. Plus if we get the tractors off the farm the insurance will go down . I'm not at all sure what injectors are missing on it but I think it was running the way it is I have a few more pictures to add maybe they will shed some light.

I wish it was here in west europe I will got a trailer and buy it from you, its a rare tractor overhere but its expensive to get them here

Your tractor was made in Dec. 1957. Now I can see the injector pump in your new pictures. It has a raised PTO, too. A lot of people would like to have one of those. Does it have remote hydraulics?
I'd love to have that tractor, but Kentucky is too far away for me.

I was under the impression that the injection pump was off of the tractor. I just looked though the photos and see that it is not. The tractor is worth more if you can get a battery in it and get it started to be sure that eveything works. It does however have an incorrect charging system. It has been converted to an alternator, and one of the headlights is missing. Also, it has many drips and leaks that need to be repaired. Let me know if you get it running. These tractor are worth more across the pond, but the shipping would be cost prohibitive. They have never caught on over here like they did abroad. Dandy Dave!

It's my fault that you thought that the pump was gone. My eyesight isn't what it used to be, and I didn't see it in the first pics that Wayne posted. I could see it in the next bunch of pics.
I sure would like to have that Major, but there's no way that I can go that far to get it. I hope that you, or another Major fan that lives closer gets it before it gets parted out or goes for scrap.

I will be going down over the Labor Day weekend and will get her fired up and take some pics of her running . And yes my father or someone else changed the charging system. He was a function not restoration kind of guy.

Well I did not get it started on Labor Day weekend because of time. Spent the weekend visiting with Family. So I spent some time on it on Friday after Thanksgiving. Put in a battery and gave her a shot of starting fluid and she started right up. Had my cousin take her for a spin up and down the road. She had about 30psi of oil pressure at idle . Ran real good and performed perfectly. I put up some pictures in my photobucket of ti being driven up and down the road.

Well my Father is now in a nursing home . Still have the tractor available . Runs very well . Has the electrical system upgraded to 12 volts with an alt. Found another injection system or parts of it in a cabinet along with the old generator. I know very little about tractors but everyone has told me that it is very desirable the way it is optioned . I am trying to clean out his building to rent out. He had a couple other tractors but they have been sold to other family members. One of them was my grandfathers and my cousin wanted it. My father was an engine builder along with his Brother (owner of business) He was a crankshaft grinder for 30 years. I know that when he bought this tractor they went through it and I guarantee this engine was meticulously rebuilt . My Uncle's business was a pioneer in stroking tractor engines for the pulling tractors back in the 70's My father welded and stroked many a crankshaft back then. I know it needs work but I know it is worth more than the $500.00 someone on here offered me.

If I remember correctly from your pictures, the power steering cylinder and pump was missing which was standard equipment on a narrow front. I think I offered you $500 before you got it running. now that you have it running, I agree, it is worth more. but with the power steering missing on such a rare option tractor, You are farther than I am willing to travel for a tractor that has rare parts missing. Have you ever tied eBay? It may be a good place to sell it. Dandy Dave!

Tractor is still available and while cleaning up the garage I believe I found the 6volt alt or generator for it. Anyone interested let me know. The link above works but you have to hit all albums and then select Fordson Major.
