Have a bit of a problem with Bitsy my super major, she starts and runs ok but when turned off she spews water from the radiator bleed pipe all over the floor. Is it possible the problem is due to a stuck shut stat. This happens even when only run for a few mins

With the cap off, and starting from cold, do you see air bubbles comming up though the coolant? Dandy Dave!

Very basic question! Is she overfull?
If it does not do it when running I would try flushing the radiator with a good quality radiator flushing product before stripping anything.

Re: Water from radiator cap
No air bubbles coming up through coolant and wouldnt say she was over filled but did whip the stat out and drilled a 3mm hole in it to allow air to escape and it seems to have done the trick
no coolant pooring out any more.
Should the radiator cap be a pressurised one. Reason for asking is that i have changed the cap from what looks like an oil filler cap to a 4lb pressure cap since replacing a core plug behind the fire wall. I am pressuming the oil filler cap was fitted due to the leaking plug to stop pressure build up

Re: Water from radiator cap
Some had a pressurised radiator cap others did not, depends which part of the planet you are on. We used to fit them if we thought the tractor was on heavy work.
