hydraulics question

Post by Kirbust »

hello,
question for you folks, where the hydraulic fluid goes is where?.....I can only find one dipstick
which is part of the transmission, is that where the hydraulics gets its fluid from?....as the
hydraulics only work when the pto is turning

The dipstick is for the rear end and the filler for the rear end is behind the seat and above the top link bracket. The transmission oil level is checked at the filler which is in front of the clutch pedal and just below the starter lever pivot point. There are 2 lines on the casing just below the filler for Full & Low.

You are correct the hydraulics only work when the PTO is engaged. The PTO powers the hydraulic pump which uses the oil in the rear end. I believe there is an exception for the later SM/NP with the raised PTO, but not sure.
