cheers

Re: wanted for super major
New pumps are available from Agriline but sit down before reading the price.
They come up on e-bay fairly often too. Same with the Dexta tank but as with all items, they are not guaranteed to be trouble free. What is wrong with your pump could it be the "O" rings broken?

Re: wanted for super major
hi brian.i'm not entirely sure exactly what is wrong with my pump but the body has some scoring near the gear at 1 end and my mate(an agri engineer )said that when he put it back in it wouldn't lift anything.
the problem is that the tractor is fitted with a farmhand loader that is driven off the pto and it was used predominately for loading flat 8's of bales and the oil was all milky when we drained it out, therefore the pump has been working pretty hard with horrible oil and he thinks that has wrecked it.
it was my father and uncles tractor and that is how i know what it was used for.
the 3 point linkage was hardly ever raised or lowered and had a sort of transport box fitted with some heavy weights in it.
he has the old pump stripped out in his workshop.

Re: wanted for super major
Scoring may well b the cause of your problem but they work when pretty badly worn you just cannot get to 2400 psi. Did your mate mark the blocks and put them back the right way, large scallop to the intake, small scallop to the pressure?
Have you used a pressure gauge to test the pump?
A jammed unload valve in the ram cylinder or a stuck flow control valve in the ASC can give similar problems. If the lift is rarely used both these could stick and give a similar problem.
With the lift off, try putting your thumb over the pressure pipe and seeing if the pump will lift it off when you spin over on the starter.

Did you put the colletts that hold the pressure pipe in position in the lower casting back properly before dropping the top back on
i t sounds silly but I did it and wondered why there was no pressure just a thought

Re: wanted for super major
Hi there please note not the best advice we don't want to be putting our fingers any where near 2400psi ??

Re: wanted for super major
Daz,
The pressure from the pipe is nowhere near 2400 psi unless you have a very strong thumb!
If it gets up to 20 psi you would be lucky. It lifts your thumb up as soon as you start to turn the pump. It is just a check to see if the pump is working. No safety issue at all.
