New major belt pulley

Post by 2011dandd »

Hi wondered if anyone could help.
I've recently got hold of a new major belt pulley to fit. Bought one that was from a e27n first of by mistake that I found does not fit.
Anyway so finally got the right one, I know how to get it in and that it needs a bit of play is 1/8 of an inch right?
How does it operate once in? I know the lever has a neutral and then turn to engage but when do I engage the belt pulley? Engine running or not? Does it need to be in pto etc? Would really appreciate some advice would like to take it to the local steam show in two weeks with the belt pulley fitted.

Thanks in advance
Cheers

Hi,

The belt pulley is operated by holding the clutch down and turning the lever. Now you can release the clutch. the Pto isn't involved.

make sure you fill up the gearbox oil again. Mine is loosing it's oil through the seal of the pulley. There's a little play on the bearing on mine also.

I've got my bearings and oil seal replaced. I do still have a little leak at the pulley shaft. Should i tighten the nut a litte more, or how can this be resolved.
