Hi
Were there many cans made available for the fordson new major or were they something that was a special request?
Does anyone know of any that are for sale. Or has anyone had a go at making one or have any plans available?
I am a carpenter by trade and dancing having a go at building a ply cab. Spending some time and doing it properly mind you not just a lash up.
Any thoughts?

I would think the Duncan plywood cab is exactly what you have in mind.. Complete with sliding door, and I think, sliding windows on the right-hand side..
Shouldn't be hard to find photos of one? I have just taken an old Duncan cab off my Major, although it was a later steel-frame one, probably originally on a 4000. The top half is scrapped but the bottom half is still here if you need inspiration..

Cheers blackbob some inspiration would be handy.
I will have a search of what you mentioned.
Been thinking on and of for a while about a cob on the major and today on the way home from taking the kids to see the grandparents I saw a major working in a field with a cab. After turning round to have another looks I thought, yep I'm going to build one.

Ok well although this isn't mine, it's exactly the same [the blue one] http://blog.scottishagriculturalimpleme ... 00x225.jpg
My best-pal-at-school lived across the road from the Duncan factory, so I have some interest.. This would be a late-1960's cab, often seen around here on 3000/4000's etc. The older ones looked similar, although made completely of plywood, not steel/plywood/fibreglass as this one I guess Alex Duncan was probably a carpenter originally too.
Edit: a bit more Googling, and I found one! https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjE0WDEwMjQ= ... Z/$_86.JPG
From this photo you might guess that the whole side of the cab is cut from a single piece of plywood and that is probably right, my neighbour had a MF135 with this type of cab which he had kept from his previous 35, and I spent many happy hours as a tractor-daft teenager in that cab, rolling, hayturning, ploughing etc. It was probably quieter than a steel-frame one
