Super major dating.

Hi wonder if anyone could shed some light for me. I’ve just bought a super major and just wondering what year it is. I will end up going down the roughy of road registering it.

On the side of the gearbox above the clutch pivot the casting number is J4 F
Engine casting number D23A
And stamped on the raised part on the right hand side of the block just below the gasket surface is 1429561
And lastly in the rear axle tube on the left hand side is what looks like J12F.

Any help be appreciated.

The engine seems to be from a Mk2 Major (1957-1958), block cast on 23 April 1957 with a May 1957 serial number. The other codes are July 1961.

Cheers for the replies. Had a feeling the engine wasn’t original. Not that it matters. I sat the Selene website but wasn’t 100% sure.
