All the later Fords had the drive plate on the fly wheel and the PTO plate in the cover. The Major clutch was a bit of an oddball and far too light duty for what was being put through it. I know some of our Dutch frieds use them on 6 cylinder engines in Majors and I tred to cringe after seeing them explode in a normal one.

My Nuffield has a similar clutch but it is built of cast steel and weight a ton. That is an Independent one rather than a Live and works with a separate lever.

I have not come across anyone who has fitted an Agriline clutch yet but it does seem strange if itis only the cover, yet comes assembled and needs you to buy separate plates, will have to do more investigation.

58vintage says he got a complete assembly with the new cover plate and it worked well. However, it appears that I'll be the guinea pig on building this one up with new parts.

I'll revisit this thread after it's done and let you know how it goes. Hopefully I will remember to take pics to post.

Does anyone have pics of their trolly system? I have a Superior loader on this one and will need to move the back end rather than the front end to split.

Hi Whirly/Brian,

Yes I bought the complete modified one from Agriline that comes fully pre-assembled and ready to put in the tractor. The only extras I had to get was a new pilot bearing and a new thrust bearing but I believe the kit now includes these to. I did keep my original type clutch to and will eventually try to fix it as a spare but haven't looked into that at all yet.

Thank you 58, that is what I would have expected, they were trying to sell Whirly extra plates he did not need.
