In answer to your question, you have a March 1963 Super Major 5000. These were built in Dagenham, England and sold here as a New Performance Super Major but when exported to the US they were painted grey tinwork and blue cast work and called the Super Major 5000.
From your picture you have done everything right as far as splitting at the back. Your gear selector where the gear stick fits should be removed, (can't see if you have) and your PTO shaft. Should just pull apart, there is no need to remove the large gear clamp.
Make sure you have the two halves balanced and your problem is not because you have weight on the pinion shaft.

I've slid a lot of tractors apart by using two floor jacks. With this method it is very easy to get things adjusted at the proper height so the two halves will move apart. Do not get too rough or you will break something. This is best done on a hard, flat and clean surface. A concrete floor, or a piece of plate steel, will work fine. Always block up the halves after separation. As far as I have been in a major is to put in clutches, and that was my tractor at least 10 years before it was mine. I did replace a PTO clutch pack in a 7700 Ford tractor this past winter and that just basically slid apart. I know we are compairing apples to oranges here, but the tractor had to be separated at the rear end section like you are doing. Work carefully. Also, I use wedges between the front axle and the tractor frame so that the motor will not rock sideways. I've split dozens of tractors using this method and it has always worked well for me.
