1959 power major

On the left side of tractor where clutch linkage goes there is a drain plug and fluid what is it and how much is there to change could it be a wet clutch or power take ?? any help thanks ed :roll:
Need help with my back hoe blue ford majors 1960?? cant find serial number but engine number is 1509504 but 0s are funny shape kinda oblong I will take pictures and try to post Ed

That sounds like the gearbox filler plug. Capacity around 4 imp.gals of either 80W or 20/40W.

Your backhoe is on a May 1959 Power Major.

I changed the trans fluid under seat are you tallking about that ? this is directly be hind engine I can take a picture later Ed

The Major has separate gearbox and rear axle oils. If you drained the oil under the seat that was the rear axle. The gearbox is drained from under the PTO gear at the bottom of the gear box, just below the clutch linkage. The filler/level plug is just infront of the clutch pedal.

Thanks brian thats what it is then the clutch would be seprate from that correct and can you adjust the clutch at all ? thanks much for your help Im grateful Ed

Clutch adjustment is onthe rod that attaches to the cross shaft. Check the manuals on this site for details of the adjustments.
