Hi. I have the same problem with my super major as wee blue tractor fan (Oct18th 09), before I start lifting the top cover is there anything that should be disconected on the inside......I damaged a grey fergy a few years ago by trying to lift the top cover without undoing the forks over the pto shaft.

i dont know about the super major
but on the major and power major you simply just unbolt it and lift it off.

Have you found the two nuts under the lift arms? Otherwise there is nothing else to hold it on once all the studs are out. It could also be tight on the dowels.
