Not having much with with my brakes at the moment. I bought some springs, for the brake pedals, then realised whatever they are meant to attach to has long gone, completely rusted away lol.

Anyway, the actual brakes themselves.. the steady post



One of mine in the brake drum rusted to the point the end fell off, now it's fairly useless. I've taken the it to our local tractor place and the hardware store around here but they can't match the thread. I just want to buy some replacement threaded rod and just make my own replacement, but I don't know what the thread is. Does anyone know what it is ? Or could anyone measure it for me ? The guy at the tractor place thought the thread might be British Whitworth. If anyone could help would be really appreciated.

Everything I've come across so far on my New Major has been regular SAE threads both coarse and fine. If there is something else, I'm sure Brian can set the record straight on this question.
