957E6731A was the oil filter after 1958.

There were two filter elements prior to 1958, Both had the same number E1ADKN18662B, one was AC and was used from 1951 to January 1956 and the other was a Fram filter used from January 1956 to December 1958.

The difference between the two was the length and the size of the centre hole.

I am afraid that the 957E one will be too short to work unless your filter housing has been changed.

Can you give us any information on your Farm Major as the only ones that have come to light are in Australia and are dated aroungd 1958 to 1960. We belived them to be an Australian build from parts.

Andrew,
That dates it as a September 1954 Fordson Major Diesel. I wondered where the name "Farm Major" came from. They had a special badge on the bonnet and we had not found one earlier than 1958. So that makes yours very interesting.

Any chance of a picture?
