Gearbox and Rear Axle Oil Specifications. All Models.

Service letter July 1959 states: Gearbox, Rear Axle and Hydraulics oil specifications have changed. Now all models from 1952 onwards use:

S.A.E 30HD or S.A.E. 20W/30W in all the above at all temperatures.

OK, I am kind of confused here. I did a search for Oil on the forums and there seems to be several answers. I just want to make sure I am putting back the correct oil in my rear axle.

I have seen people here recommend everything from 15W/40, to SAE 30 to Universal Transmission fluid.

These are my choices pretty much.

Which of these would be the best?

Look in the "stickies" ! The oil recommended by Ford is there.

Try your local New Holland dealer. The local one here had it in 5 gallon containers, I believe it was 20/30 wt. The local tractor supply store did not have the correct oil. As Brian says, look at the posting on this forum regarding oil specs.
