Springs for the super major brake actuators

Post by Foxen »

Does the Ford 4000 brake actuator springs work on the super major brake actuators?

Well, I got bored and called up the local CNH dealer and had him measure the springs they had and they were 5mm longer than the super major springs, so I'll answer my own question with a "no"...

I then called another firm(he who runs it is something of an "oracle") and he's fixing me up with the springs for a MF(blech) 165 with dry brakes as those, if they don't fit out of the box, can be modified to fit :)

Want me to keep you posted on the results?

By all means please post the results. There is no such thing as too much information when it comes to interchangeability of parts!

Dunlop Tractor Parts in Northern Ireland have the proper springs. I got some for my super last year.

I know they are available in other countries, just not in sweden... and one day they might not be available elsewhere either and then it's good to know if there are substitutes, right?

Keep your fingers crossed, I'm hoping I'll have the new springs tomorrow so I can test-fit them :buddies:

Alright... I got the springs today and I can now confirm that the actuator springs for the MF 165 with dry brakes do fit "out of the box", they are made of slightly thicker wire than the originals but I suppose that means they will "let go" better than before :)
